New York, October 26, 2020. Alt Legal, a leader in trademark docketing software, welcomed nearly 300 attendees from around the world to its virtual trademark conference, Alt Legal Connect, taking place October 26-28. Alt Legal Connect features 18 dynamic sessions delivered by 30 thought leaders and innovators in trademarks and the legal industry, and provides up to 9 CLE credits for attendees.
The sessions are divided into a trademark practice track and a unique business of law track. The trademark practice track will feature some of the nation’s top trademark practitioners: Allison Ricketts of Fross Zelnick will share accounts of and insights into the USPTO’s post-registration audit program. Shabnam Malek and Amanda Conley of Brand & Branch will discuss the intricacies of trademark protection for cannabis brands. Ed Timberlake of Timberlake Law will explore the ins and outs of nontraditional trademarks.
The business of trademark law track will focus on real-world topics and business advice presented by top attorneys who have successfully managed and scaled their own firms: Sonia Lakhany of Lakhany Law will lead a workshop on giving your firm its own “wow factor.” Kim Bennett of K. Bennett Law will lead a panel discussion about subscription billing for law firms. Karima Gulick of Gulick Law and host of The Gen Why Lawyer podcast will moderate a panel about using digital marketing to grow a practice.
Keynote presentations will be given by Nehal Madhani (CEO and founder of Alt Legal), David Lat (Managing Director at Lateral Link and founder of Above the Law), and Jack Newton (CEO and founder of Clio). Although Alt Legal Connect was initially intended to be an in-person event, it was reimagined as a virtual event in light of COVID-19. Conference organizers have curated a number of unique and engaging opportunities for attendees to use to network and socialize, including a virtual trivia night, a cooking classes with chefs from MasterChef and Mexico, a coffee-making class with a South American barista, and more.
In his opening keynote, Alt Legal CEO and founder Nehal Madhani unveiled Alt Legal’s new automation for trademarks filed with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and its upcoming plans to partner with an outside company to bring in other international trademark data as part of the company’s focus on better supporting international trademark docketing. Madhani also highlighted Alt Legal’s focus on supporting the trademark community as evidenced by its new resource center featuring a free online course for paralegals to learn about trademark prosecution.
