Alt Legal and Corsearch Live took place in New York City on March 19 and featured three fantastic CLE sessions as well as plenty of networking opportunities (including an optional dine around afterwards). The CLE sessions included:
Cents and Sensibility: Practical approaches to running a lean in-house trademark team – During this session, Sofya Nadgorny of Warner Music Group moderated and participated in a panel discussion with in-house practitioners Shama Elliott, Stacey Foltz Stark, and Stephanie Grenald about how in-house legal teams can optimize their tight budgets while maintaining the integrity and strength of their brands’ trademarks. They also addressed how attorneys at firms can demonstrate their value and help in-house teams reduce costs.
The AI Brandwagon: Why AI is becoming so popular for trademark practice – During this session Matt Rubin of Corsearch moderated a discussion between trademark attorneys Sam Kilb and Jessica Neer McDonald. The group discussed the impact of AI technology on the trademark industry including creation, clearance and protection of trademarks using AI.
AI on the Prize: Ethical considerations for emerging technologies – During this session former USPTO OED attorney Emil Ali explained the ethical issues to consider when using technology, including AI, and provided a framework for evaluating tools’ ethical compliance.
