Artist Jason M. Allen is appealing a Copyright Office decision that denied him copyright protection for art he created using Midjourney.

Even in the case of Stephen Thaler, who created the AI system used to create the art, the DC Circuit Court seems unlikely to resolve the problem of copyright registration for works created using AI.

The FTC is suing 5 companies for what they call “AI-related deception.”

Here are some ways to recognize and respond to scams. I can’t reiterate enough the importance of warning clients and colleagues about these scams.

The USPTO recommends that you verify all the filings listed with you as attorney of record to help spot potentially fraudulent filings in your name. To search for them, go to the Trademark Search page and search with the following: AT: ((“FIRST NAME LAST NAME”~2) OR (“LAST NAME, FIRST NAME”~2)) or watch this short video to learn how to search by attorney. And if you spot a filing that isn’t yours email [email protected] and let them know.
