A word to the wise: Chat GPT’s legal citations may look right, but a US District judge is considering sanctions after a lawyer’s brief contained six cases that “appear to be bogus judicial decisions with bogus quotes and bogus internal citations.”
U.S. District Judge Brantley Starr has ordered that attorneys appearing before him certify that they aren’t using chatbots to create their filings, at least without oversight.
ChatGPT may be poised to offer investment advice. Let’s hope it’s better than their legal advice!
