Rachael Dickson, Senior Trademark Attorney at Lloyd & Mousilli

Rachael Dickson is a senior trademark attorney at Lloyd & Mousilli, where she oversees the trademark and copyright practice. She also runs solo trademark firm Catalytic Law, through which she regularly advises other attorneys on USPTO trademark prosecution issues. Rachael worked as a trademark examining attorney at the USPTO from 2017-2021, where she was awarded a 2020 Customer Service Award. While at the USPTO, Rachael was part of a work group which specialized in reviewing applications to register trademarks with cannabis goods and services. Rachael directed the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Clinic at Suffolk University School of Law as a visiting assistant professor from Fall 2022 – Spring 2024. Her legal article, High Hopes: Cannabis Trademarks at the USPTO, is forthcoming in the Ohio State Technology Law Journal in 2025. Her current legal research is focused on the trademark office’s discriminatory treatment of traditionally disfavored good/service identifications in the Trademark ID Manual. Rachael regularly lectures on her trademark research and trademark searching using the USPTO’s new search tool.

Erik Pelton, Founder Erik M. Pelton & Associates

Erik Pelton launched his trademark law practice in 1999, following a stint as an examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office. The firm represents clients in all aspects of trademark clearance, registration, maintenance, transactions, and disputes. The firm is particularly experienced in the federal trademark registration process, obtaining more than 4,000 USPTO registrations of behalf of clients, as well as proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Erik also teaches trademark law at Georgetown University Law Center and for four years he supervised the trademark clinic at Howard University School of Law. Erik lives in Falls Church, Virginia, where he also provides pro bono work for veteran-owned businesses.

Kayla Jimenez, Partner at US IP Attorneys, P.C.

Kayla Jimenez is a partner of US IP Attorneys, P.C. where her practice focuses on trademark prosecution and litigation, copyright law, right of publicity law, and business transactions. Previously, Kayla worked for several biotech and renewable energy startups in San Diego. She also has extensive experience with art law, fashion law and licensing. Kayla has worked on several notable cases in the field of intellectual property law, including Fleischer Studios, Inc. v. A.V.E.L.A., Inc. (involving trademarks and copyrights related to Betty Boop), Fifty-Six Hope Road Music, Ltd. et al v. AVELA, Inc. (involving Bob Marley’s right of publicity, copyrights and trademarks), and Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc. v. X One X Productions (involving, amongst other things, public domain issues with the Wizard of Oz). Kayla currently manages a portfolio of over 750 trademarks.
