Alt Legal’s CEO Nehal Madhani began his career as a lawyer at Kirkland & Ellis. After a few years of practice, he realized his passion was using legal tech to solve inefficiencies in legal practice. When Nehal started his first legal tech venture, he experienced the complexities and inefficiencies of trademark prosecution. Most of the steps were manual, and the process of tracking filings and deadlines felt archaic. He knew there had to be a better way.
Nehal partnered with IP paralegal and technologist Charles Amoako and designer Gabe Kneisley to build a docketing system that was uniquely tailored to trademarks and that did not require lots of manual data entry. So, the three of them engaged and listened to the trademark community to create a new paradigm for docketing software that was modern, powerful, and automated.
Since 2014, we’ve always partnered with our customers to understand how we can make their lives easier. That principle helped us launch the first version of Alt Legal and continues to guide our development process today.
